Nithya is a forthcoming Telugu romantic film written directed by Gautham Menon, featuring Nani and Samantha in the lead roles. The venture is produced by Kumar and Jayaram of RS Infotainment and will have music composed by A. R. Rahman with cinematography by M. S. Prabhu. Ram had walked out of the film previously and was replaced by Nani and the film is simultaneously being made in Tamil as Neethaane En Ponvasantham with Jiiva replacing Nani and in Hindi with Aditya Roy Kapoor in the lead role.

In January 2011 producer Bellamkonda Suresh announced that he had signed on Gautham Menon, Ram and Samantha to feature in his next production, a bilingual in Tamil and Telugu, citing that the film would begin shoot from May 2011.[1][2] Menon decided to replace Ram and use Jiiva in the Tamil version of the film with Samantha reprising her role and Menon's "regular crew" of music composer A. R. Rahman and film editor Anthony were all a part of both film.
The film was began shoot from August 29, 2011 with a photo shoot held along with the Tamil version.[3] In late September 2011, Ram walked out of the film unhappy over the way his portions were shot third after Jiiva's and Aditya Roy Kapoor's scenes.[4]
