Mani shoots in Kerala

he director seems to be doing a Raavan again, keeps shoot schedule a secret as he does not want to reveal the look of his lead actors
Ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam, who is known for his affinity towards Gods Own County, has chosen Kerala yet again, as the location for a major part of the shoot of his forthcoming film, Kadal.
However, the shoot, which has been kept under wraps, kicked-off in Kerala minus any hype. "The director does not want to reveal the look of the actors in the movie at this stage," says a source. Interestingly, the director had done exactly the same while shooting for his bilingual -Raavan. So much so that the only pictures of the lead actors Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan,Abhishek Bachchan and Vikram that got out were those of them covered in blankets. The team, until recently, was shooting at the coastal regions of Tamil Nadu, including Tiruchendur. They then shot a five-day schedule in March, in Kerala. "They shot mostly at Kottayam. A few scenes were canned at Fort Kochi too," says our source.
The film features Gautham Karthik and Samantha Prabhu in the lead roles. The rest of the cast includes bigwigs like Arjun Sarja, Aravind Swamy and Pasupathy. Although there are no big names in the lead, Kadal is generating a lot of buzz, thanks to the filmi background of the debutant lead actor, who happens to be the son of veteran actor Karthik. The team is heading back to Kerala for a month-long shoot by the end of April, says the source.
