Samantha is happy to be back in K’town after a gap.The lady has bagged two big releases in Gautham Menon’s Nee Thane En Ponvasantham and Mani Ratnam flick Kadal. We caught up with her during the shoots of ‘Autonagar Surya ‘opposite Naga Chaitanya. Here is an excerpt from the interview.
Hi Samantha, looks like the shoots are going really well, you seem relaxed.
Yes, pretty well relaxed I must say. Thanks to a lovely crew that is making me feel so comfortable.
Hats off to them, so first of all congratulations! You are part of a Mani Ratnam movie now.
Thank you, I have my fingers crossed.
Looking at your career graph we see that you still have to match your Telugu performance, do you think a Mani Ratnam movie will really be the ice breaker?
Tollywood received me well; it was like a dream come true. Post Ye Maaya Chesave with Naga Chaitanya, I had a chance to work alongside Mahesh Babu and Jr NTR. I am sure the best is yet to come.
Wow, you sound determined, we really like that spirit. How did you get the role?
Well I got a call from my agent and I agreed to grab the opportunity, who wouldn’t love to work with Mani Sir. I auditioned and got through.
As simple as that, you are also a part of a trilingual. Are there anymore movies you have signed up for the year that your fans would love to hear about?
I will not be signing any new film in Tamil this year. I already have my trilingual with Gautham Menon, Neethaane En Ponvasantham, going on. I’ll be starring opposite Jeeva. Next up is my Tamil film, Kadal with Mani Ratnam sir. Apart from that, I already have two films in Telugu, one with Ram Charan Teja and the other with Siddharth.
It’s time to move to another question from your fans, they want to know who is your favorite director?
Certainly it has to be Gautham Menon, he’s the reason I’m here today.
Samantha do you think the industry decides who’s going to be your next friend keeping in mind the professional connections an artist needs to make in testing times?
Well it is important to have connections. Although I haven’t changed a lot, I still have the same friends and I think more or less I am still the same. I agree I have a glamorous job.
Do you plan to move to Bollywood, now that you are a part of Tollywood and Kollywood ventures alike?
I’ll be concentrating on Tamil movies. I’m very blessed and am really lucky for the opportunities I have received there.
Thank you Samantha for a lovely talk, we are sure that there’s a lot for you coming in Kollywood too.
